AMITA TRUST

The parent chapter of MIT Alumni Association has set up a trust called the AMITA Trust.  This Trust has a mandate of

  1. Helping deserving but economically weaker students to continue their studies without a great strain on their finances. Since 2004, we have dispersed a sum of Rs.60 lacks towards 366 scholarships at MIT.
  2. To help the needy students of MIT in expensive emergency health care.
  3. To set up a free lending library for students and to annually augment the books at the library.

We have been doing these activities from the income derived from the contributions given by the Alumni worldwide.  The Corpus has presently around Rs.2 Cores and the contributions have come from 350 Alumni spread over the globe.  We are keen to augment this Corpus to enable us not only to continue the above schemes but also to see if we can expand our activities to schemes like

  1. Supporting some technical projects at MIT.
  2. Setting up an Alumni Chair at MIT
  3. Skill development Programme, etc

We need the support for the above from all of you.  We are enclosing an appeal from the AMITA TRUST.  We request you to support these efforts whole heartedly by contributing as much as possible individually.

While the appeal letter talks primarily about scholarships, we would like to utilize part of the income of the trust towards other activities mentioned above.

We would like to thank all the donors who have contributed generously towards the Corpus.  We salute their commitment to the Alma Mater and the students.
