Felicitations to Mr. K. Rama Rao, T.No. 620

Recently on November 24th and 25th AEROSPACE ENGINEERING DIVISION BOARD of  The Institution of Engineers (India) in their  XXVI National Convention of AEROSPACE ENGINEERS and  National Seminar on  EXPANDING FRONTIERS IN AEROSPACE TECHNOLOGIES, CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES  felicitated  Shri. K RAMA RAO, FIE, Eminent Aerospace Engineer.

K RAMA RAO is an alumnus of MIT, T.No. 620, AE, 1957, and he retired as Director, Advanced Composites of Defense Research And Development Laboratory (DRDO) Hyderabad.

We are proud that one of our co-alumnus is thus honoured and felicitated.

Tribute to Prof K.V. Narayanan

As we are aware Prof K.V. Narayanan (affectionately called as KVN), reached the lotus feet of Ramana Maharishi on the 11th July 2013. An Obituary insert in The Hindu dated 13th July 2013 was made possible by the efforts of some alumni. MIT Alumni Association in consultation with MIT decided to hold a memorial meeting to pay tribute to our beloved professor K V Narayanan.

MIT Dean permitted us to conduct it on 13th Aug ’13 though MITAA wished to conduct it on 16th Aug ’13 to coincide with the birth day of KVN.

MITAA sent out invitation to all alumni and friends to join and pay respect to the departed soul. In the mean while a souvenir was prepared with colorful photo and contribution from many to be released on 13th Aug ’13. All arrangements were made to conduct the remembrance meet.

Well wishers, followers, lovers, devotees (and what not….) of our beloved prof KVN, assembled with one focus to remember him and praise his glory on 13th Aug 2013 at Rajam Hall, MIT Chrompet.

Mr. R.Balaji, President MITAA opened up the memorial informal gathering with lighting of Kuthuvilakku by Dean MIT Dr. Thamarai Selvi, founder’s grand daughter Ms. Prema Srinivasan and Ms Jeyanthi (KNV’s niece), Dr P Kanagasabapathy and Dr N S Venkatarman.

One minute silence was observed before the events started as a mark of high respect to the departed soul.

A recent video interview lasting for about 3 or 4 minutes with KVN was played.

A colorful souvenir, with rare colour photos and with pages full of love, affection and praises by many of our alumni and many admirers of prof KVN, was released by founder’s family, Ms Prema Srinivasan.

Then many lined up to the podium to talk about their close association with KVN, this included Dr N S Venkatarman (former director MIT), Dr. P.K. former Dean MIT, Dr K B Chandrasekar from USA (donor AU-KBC research Centre at MIT) Mr. K. Thiagarajan, GASCO, Abu Dhabi, Dr. Mannar Jawahar former VC-AU, Mr T V Vasudevan (moderator ITMITian group), Mr. David alumnus from PT,  Mr. Bhavanadan 17th batch alumnus, Mr. S. Manivanan former secretary MITAA, Mr. N. Ramachandran Director MELSS, Mr. Rangarajan, CHEMIN, Ms.Jeyanthi, KVN’s niece. Ms Vidhya and Mr. Palavesa Muthu from Kuwait.

Professor Seshadri, 83 Years old who was instrumental for starting Rubber and Plastics and an authority in Rubber Technology, Dr Sethuraman instrumental for starting Research activities at MIT and 85 Years old. Second lady MITian and first woman chairman of Public enterprises board Mrs Lakshmi Menon T.Number T#1350, Professors , HOD, Lecturers attended the meet. Total strength was close to 120.

The memorial meeting kindled alumni to do something to our alma mater, which was the advice or suggestion made by our Prof KVN, to many alumni.
Everyone felt the presence of Prof KVN in his immortal form.

Yes he still lives with us now and ever.

FGTG 2016 – 7th Feb 2016 at VGP Golden Resorts, ECR Road

  • Around 125 people participated including family members.
  • Bangalore chapter members also came down especially for this occasion.
  • Mathiyazhagan organized a special meditation session.
  • Sriram entertained the audience in his grand style.
  • P. Rangaraj of 21st batch sponsored gifts for all participants.
  • Mohan gurumurthy of 25th batch sponsored special prizes for the event winners.
  • Lot of enthusiasm was shown by the recent passed out alumni and their family.

Overall a very enjoyable day for all the participants.
