A seminar on “Role of Electronics in Automobiles for improved efficiency and increased Safety”  was organized at “GRT Hotel”, Chennai on 13^th February 2013.

Inaugural Session:

1. Started with welcome address by Mr. Balaji – President MITAA.
2. Address by Dr. S. Thamarai Selvi – Dean, Dr. P. Kaliraj – Vice Chairman, Anna University, Mr. S. Sridharan – MD Take Solution.
3. Velmurugan IES, Executive Vice Chairman, Tamilnadu Industrial Export Promotion  Bureau spoke on the initiative taken by the State Government for export promotion and support by the various Government stakeholders.
4. V. Sumatran – Vice Chairman, Ashok Leyland spoke on the auto sector status and the opportunities available.

Session 1:

• The session was chaired by Dr. Sivakumar, Director CVRDE.
• Raja, Tata motors briefed on fuel ceil for buses.
• Anand , TVS Delphi spoke about engines controlled by electronics.
• Srinivasan, UCAL spoke on the fuel monitoring system for two wheelers.

Session 2:

• Shashikant, IIT Bombay presented the latest electronics for automobile safety.
• Raghavendra Aerram, CAT Electronics spoke about electronics in off road vehicles.
• Sadagopal Krishanan, Ashok Leyland spoke about electronics use for enhancing safety.
• Ramanathan – Lucas made a cae study on fuel efficiency and emission reduction.
• Sundar – Rane TRW spoke on the present status of technology in auto electronics.

There was a panel discussion on how to leverage electronics to become a global player in auto industry. There was  very good interaction between the delegates and the speakers on different queries. Lot of professionals from the various industries and students from different colleges participated in huge number.

Mr. Sadagopal Krishnan gave the concluding remarks for the seminar.

SUMMITAA – 2012

The first Global level meet of Mitians was held on 10^th and 11^th August 2012.  The first day programme was held at Hotel Green park, Chennai and the second day event was at MIT.

A brief report of the programme:

10^th August – Hotel Green Park:

1. R. Balaji, President MITAA welcomed the gathering.
2. V. Gopalan, the founder President, Dr. Mannar Jawahar, former VC Anna University addressed the gathering followed by Dr. Shanmugavel, Registrar AU and Dr. Thamarai Selvi, Dean MIT.
3. The Chief Guest M.M. Murugappan, Chairman of the Murugappa Group spoke eloquently on the current state of the Industries and what is expected from the graduates coming out of the engineering curriculum.
4. He released the Souvenir of the event.
5. A. Radhakrishnan – Chairman Summitaa gave the vote of thanks.
6. Alumni representing different Chapters spoke and shared their ideas on the activities of MITAA.
7. A big team has come from Kuwait and Qatar.
8. An open forum discussion highlighted how MITAA can contribute to improve further the standards of MIT students.
9. Chocolate Krishna – dram by Crazy Mohan preceded the Dinner networking.

11^th August – MIT

1. A.P.J. Abdul kalam visited the Museum and recollected his fond memories on seeing all the photos.
2. A demonstration of Unmanned Vehicle was done by Senthilkumar and his team which was well appreciated by Dr. Kalam.
3. Mannar Jawahar former VC welcomed the gathering.
4. Thamarai Selvi, Mit Dean and Dr. Kaliraj, VC Anna University addressed the gathering.
5. Balaji, presented the Status report of MITAA.
6. Balagopal, 1^st batch alumni spoke on the legacy of the institute and the alumni association.
7. Kalam talked about his MIT days and urged the students to be inquisitive and develop the skill to acquire knowledge.
8. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Athenaeum chairman.
9. The Exhibition was inaugurated by the 1^st batch alumni Appa Rao.
10. All the departments of MIT showcased their various activities and the high tech projects done by them. Various companies of the alumni have displayed their products.
11. Goldies upto 12^th batch and the entrepreneurs were honoured.
12. The programme ended with a music programme by Ramji with young artists.

A seminar on “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” was held at MIT On 7^th January 2011.

Highlights:

• TAS Balagopal – Patron MITAA spoke on the vision of MITAA to nurture entrepreneurship.
• Joseph Stanley, Dean MIT gave the intro remarks.
• P. Mannar Jawahar – Vice Chairman Anna University delivered a spectacular speech enthralling the delegates from industry and the students.
• The following Mitian entrepreneurs spoke about their life journey and how the growth in their present company was achieved.

The Mupperum Vizha

Founder’s, Institute and Alumini Day was celebrated with quite enthusiastically on 23^rd March 2018.

Highlights:

• Dr. K. Sivan – Chairman , ISRO was the Guest of Honour and spoke about the Space Programme of the country.
• Mr. Robert Burgess  – Consul General, US Consulate Chennai  was the Key note speaker.
• The Outstanding Alumnus awardee  Mr. K. V. Bhima Rao  2^nd  Batch Electronics – Rtd. Chief Engineer AIR & DD  delivered the Rajam Memorial Lecture .Very nostalgic about his interaction with the Founder and the early Professors of the institute.
• The Distinguished Alumnus awardee Mr. N. Ramakrishna – M.D Precia Molen  fondly spoke about  his MIT days.
• Mr. B. Senthilnathan – Jt.Secretary falicitated the Guest of Honour.
• Mr. T. M. Jawaharlal, Mr. R. Balaji and Mr. N. Ramachandran, Patron and Past- Presidents of MITAA felicitated the Outstanding Alumnus, Distinguished Alumnus and the Chief guest respectively.
• Mr. HSR Sharma of MITAA  falicitated  the Outstanding Student awardee.
• Mr. Senthamil Arasu – President MITAA, welcomed the gathering.
• Annual Report of the Institute presented by MIT Dean Dr. A. Rajadurai.
• Dr. S. Ganesan – Registrar, Anna University and Mr. V. Balasubramaniam of Founder’s family gave memorable speech.
• Mr. Lakshmi Shankar, Secretary MITTAA concluded the function
